About our staff


Our staff is made up of highly trained professionals dedicated to the cancer registry field. Many C/NET Solutions support staff are Certified Tumor Registrars who are active in state and national registrar organizations. Open communication with our customers is important to us. Because we are a moderately-sized organization, it's easy for customers to contact our staff directly by phone or email.

Barry Gordon, Ph.D, has led the organization since its inception. He promoted national standards for data exchange that were later adopted by the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) Data Standards Committee, and co-authored some of NAACCR's data standards publications. He has been an active participant in the ACoS Commission on Cancer's advisory committees on dataset selection, National Cancer Database (NCDB) data quality, and PCE computerization, as well as HL7 development.


Programming Department Manager
Hubert ("Bert") Heuer has been with C/NET Solutions for ten years and has, in succession, held every programming position available at the company. He has B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from California State University, Hayward.

Before joining C/NET Solutions, Bert spent more than ten years in programming and software engineering working on diverse systems such as construction estimating, disk driver software and medical billing/reimbursment systems. Bert "speaks" a significant number of computer languages including Pascal, C, C++, COBOL, FORTRAN, Basic, HTML, XML, and Java.

Although not an actual CTR, Bert has completed the certification training course to gain significant grasp of the registrars' situation.


National Systems Support Manager
Jean Malo Roberts, CTR has been a part of the C/NET Solutions team since January 2005 when she accepted the position of Information Specialist. She came to C/NET Solutions from Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island, Illinois where she worked as a Cancer Registrar. She began work in the cancer field in 1998 when she started as a data manager in the Cancer Research department at Trinity Medical Center.

Jean is a member of the Cancer Registrars of Illinois (CRI). She has served many roles during her CRI membership. Those roles include; President, President-Elect, Past President, Website Chairperson and Scholarship Chairperson.


California Systems Support Manager
Dan Curran, M.S., CTR, has a B.S. in Zoology and an M.S. in Biology from California State Polytechnic University (Cal Poly), Pomona. Dan is active in registrar associations and is currently serving as the Immediate Past President and webmaster for the California Cancer Registrars Association (CCRA). He is also the Exam Construction Committee Chair for the NCRA Council on Certification and the Web Committee Chair for NAACCR, the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries.

Dan has served as a member of the NAACCR Cancer Staging Workgroup and Data Quality Indicators Subcommittee, President of Northern-CCRA, Treasurer and President of CCRA, and Treasurer of the National Board for Certification of Registrars. He was presented with NCRA’s Outstanding New Professional Award for 2000 at the NCRA Annual Meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the NCRA Presidential Service Award in 2001 in Orlando, Florida.


Research Scientist
Alan Houser, MA, MPH, is responsible for keeping CNExT's edit files and help files up to date, as well as assisting the programming staff in interpreting national and state data standards into the program operation. He has been in the cancer registry business since 1981 and has worked at the University of California Medical Center at San Francisco, the California Cancer Registry, the San Francisco-Oakland SEER Registry, and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. In addition to his work at C/NET Solutions, he is a member of the NAACCR Edits Work Group and the project manager for C/NET's major rewrite of the EditsWriter, the program that all state and national agencies use to create edit metafiles. In previous lifetimes, he has been a biochemist and a professional photographer.
